|What:||MAPS 4 College will host a Cash for College Workshop, where professionals from various universities and community colleges will assist families and students in completing the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) form. High school seniors who attend the Cash for College workshop, complete an exit survey, and apply for a Cal Grant before the March 2 deadline, are eligible for an additional $1,000 scholarship.|

In Baldwin Park, only 11 percent of the population over the age of 25 holds a bachelor’s degree or higher, according to US Census Bureau statistics. In addition, the cost of college can range from $4,810 to $40,385 per year, according to San Francisco State University Office of Financial Aid estimates. MAPS 4 College is hoping to remove the financial obstacles that prevent students from getting into college.
|Background:||MAPS 4 College (MAPS) is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps students graduate from high school, get accepted to a college, attend and graduate from college, gain job readiness skills, find a satisfying career and acquire life sustaining skills. The organization received free facility usage at Family Center in the city of Baldwin Park.|
